In mid-September, the New York City-based airline JetBlue Airways announced it will be opening its first-ever airport lounges beginning late next year. The airline’s first lounge will open at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City, and a second is slated to debut at Boston Logan International Airport in Massachusetts shortly after. The announcement comes as a response to a growing demand for premium offerings and will be included as a signature perk to its top-level TrueBlue Mosaic members, as well as a benefit to its new premium credit card (coming soon).
“Customers have asked for a JetBlue lounge for years and we can’t wait to unveil our take in New York and Boston,” says Marty St. George, president of JetBlue, in a prepared statement. “Lounges have become an essential offering for the growing numbers of customers seeking premium experiences, and JetBlue’s lounges will further boost the value of our TrueBlue loyalty program as we expand our portfolio of JetBlue credit cards.”
Access to JetBlue’s airport lounges will be reserved primarily for its TrueBlue Mosaic 4 members, transatlantic Mint customers, as well as holders of its soon-to-be-announced premium JetBlue credit card, all of whom will receive complimentary access—Mosaic 4 members and new cardholders will also receive one complimentary guest pass. Day passes and guest passes for the lounges will be available for purchase by other eligible customers as space allows, and annual passes will be available to all.
The New York lounge will span 8,000 square feet, with the one in Boston being even larger at 11,000 square feet. Both lounges will feature local and regional artwork and functional amenities such as a full-service bar, complimentary food, private workspaces, and numerous outlets. Free barista-made coffee bar beverages will also be available.
