This year, planners will have additional lodging options to consider in Midtown Manhattan with the debut of Kimpton Ashbel New York–Park Avenue and the reopening of Time Square’s ROW NYC.
The new Kimpton property exists in a revitalized 1928 building that was originally constructed as the Doral Park Avenue Hotel, with the new hotel taking a residential approach to hospitality with its 205 townhouse-like guest rooms. “Kimpton Ashbel is the kind of hotel that feels like a secret key, a personal enclave for those who know where to look,” says Sofia L. Vandaele, regional director of operations for luxury and lifestyle New York properties at IHG Hotels & Resorts, in a prepared statement. “Our intention is for guests to feel as though they are stepping into the home of a stylish New Yorker—an elegant Manhattan socialite and a warm and inviting host.” The hotel’s lobby also is designed in this manner, made up of an interconnected foyer, living room, and family room to encourage lingering conversations.
For groups, Kimpton Ashbel offers room blocks, space to meet within its lobby, and a central location close to several partner venues, including Club 101 in the prestigious 101 Park Avenue office tower, Convene 360 Madison, and Ease 605 Third Ave, among others. For added convenience, Javits Center and Madison Square Garden are both less than 2 miles away.
Following a multiyear transformation and a stint as an emergency shelter for migrant families and asylum seekers, ROW NYC reopened in Times Square in early May. All 1,300 guest rooms have been renovated, along with all public spaces. Percy All Day is the hotel’s new cafe and bar, serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late-night sips.
The refreshed hotel provides a dedicated group sales and reservations team to work with planners, as well as room blocks. Like Kimpton Ashbel, ROW NYC also is conveniently close to the convention center and other prominent venues, Broadway, and major New York City landmarks like Central Park.
