The Greater Newark Convention & Visitors Bureau has partnered with 10 airports that offer direct flights to Newark to help familiarize travelers with the city.
“Until recently, not much was known about Newark outside of the airport, and our marketing department saw an opportunity to introduce a global audience to all that’s happening here,” says Michael Davidson, executive director, GNCVB. “It’s a big win for the CVB and a win for our airport partners, driving business in both directors.”
Under this new Airport Exchange program, airport partners spotlight Newark in a number of ways, while the GNCVB promotes direct travel routes to those destinations through social media and the Getting Here section of Newark Happening—the CVB’s website
Partners include Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport in Belgrade Mont., where Newark promotions can be found on street pole banners and rack cards; Sarasota Bradenton International in Sarasota, Fla., features Newark on Sarasota’s website; and at John Wayne International Airport in Costa Mesa, Calif., where messaging on terminal monitors is posted.
“We are thrilled that airports were willing to work with us on an out-of-the-box approach to destination marketing,” says Lauren Hall, marketing director, GNCVB, “and hope that it will be a huge success for all parties.
