Atlantic City remained a popular destination for events during the first quarter of 2015
During the timeframe, the Meet AC sales team brought 30 conventions and meetings to the Atlantic City Convention Center and 19 to hotel properties—a more than 25 percent increase from 2014’s first quarters.
“Conventions and meetings are an important part of Atlantic City’s economic base throughout the winter,” says John Palmieri, executive director, CRDA. “We look forward to adding in the near future Harrah’s Waterfront Conference Center and Resorts’ expanded convention space to the available venues for meeting planners throughout the region.”
At Boardwalk Hall, 135,000 fans attended 13 different events, making a jump of 29.3 percent from 2013’s first quarter. Additional business from this year’s Q1 show 19,000 guests stopped at the Visitor Information Centers. More than 532,500 unique visitors browsed the CVB’s website, and 72 percent of them were new to the site.
“Several large-scale, new attractions should stir significant interest in Atlantic City from new and returning visitors throughout 2015,” says Palmieri. “Bass Pro Shops, The Playground renovation of the Pier Shops, Tropicana’s retail and Boardwalk entertainment areas and Borgata’s outdoor concert facility are just a few of the exciting additions visitors will be able to enjoy this year.”
