This June, the Massachusetts House of Representatives passed an economic bond bill that contains a proposal for the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority to rename the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center as the Thomas Michael Menino Convention and Exhibition Center. Thomas Menino served as mayor of Boston from 1993 to 2014 and was instrumental during his tenure in the construction of the convention center. The move to rename the convention center comes along with the 10th anniversary of Menino’s death this year. The bill is currently in conference committee.
