Studio Movie Grill—the in-theater dining organization with locations across the country—has expanded its roots to Philadelphia.
Three new locations also are slated to open in Simi Valley, Calif., Dallas and Houston. The company was founded in 2000, and by year’s end they will have 24 locations across 10 states.
“With the help of our partner, Goldman Sachs, Studio Movie Grill is excited and grateful to have the opportunity to further establish our brand across the country,” says Brian Schultz, founder and CEO. “We created the full-service, dine-in theater concept as a modern and relaxing way for guests to have dinner at the movies, not just dinner and a movie. Courteous service, coupled with the best available technology and an eclectic, fresh and made-to-order menu—all provided with a mind toward value—have contributed to SMG being recognized as the preeminent leader in film exhibition.”
The 37,000-square-foot Philly location, located in Upper Darby, will have a local-style bar and nine screens—it will be the first in the Northeast area. Private event space will be available as in all locations. The company itself hosts more than 2,500 events each year.
The Philly location is especially important for Schultz, as he lived here for many years.
“Philadelphia and Simi Valley are ideal locations for me to reconnect with communities that have special meaning for me,” he says. “Part of our journey is to build in communities and develop roots where I have fond memories.”
