TripAdvisor has placed Gettysburg, Pa., at the top of the website’s list, Historical Family Vacation Spots You can Afford.
The world’s largest travel website, TripAdvisor identified nine of America’s most historically prominent destination spots and pulled their vacation rental review scores. They also calculated average prices and how that compares to hotels.
“Embrace the charm and historical impact of this Pennsylvania town,” the website wrote. “Beyond the battlefield lies Adams County, a countryside filled with wineries, farms, outdoor recreational activities and beautiful terrain.”
Other destinations included Charlestown, S.C.; Philadelphia; San Antonio, Texas; and Washington, D.C. Gettysburg also was recently named the second most popular destination in the Northeast United States by FamilyFun Magazine.
“Historical family vacations are a great way to blend education and pastime with the thrill of experiencing a new place,” continued the website. “With more alternative accommodations available today than ever before, you don’t need to break the bank on a five-star hotel in America’s most charming colonial cities.”
