HHRVB Predicts Positive Economic Results

By Brittany Trevick

The Hershey Harrisburg Regional Visitors Bureau recently announced they are estimating the Second Annual Great American Outdoor Show will bring in around $75 million economic impact for the month of February.

An official report will not be released on the show’s economic impact—which took place Feb. 7–15—for several weeks until they compile results from lodging partners, venue officials and the show producer.

Last year, the Great American Outdoor Show generated $70 million for the region.

The tourism officials did release the official multiple-year economic impact for the area from four other major events in February. According to the reports, PIAA Tea, Wrestling brought in $1.95 million in four years; Reflections Synchro Invitation resulted in $10 million for a five-year span; the Keystone Regional Volleyball Boys Zonal Championships brought in $4.8 million over three years; and the PA Junior Wrestling Junior High State Championship (which had its first year in 2015), is estimated to result in $1 million per year.

To calculate the economic impact of major events, the bureau uses initial indicators that help provide results.
