Plans have been announced by the Morgans Hotel Group Co. of New York to construct a $125 million hotel in Center City. This 300-room hotel at 17th and Chancellor street will replace a parking garage, and relocate Little Pete’s diner, a floral shop, and nail salon. Two stories of retail stores will also be added in the construction.
Perfect for events, the hotel will include a penthouse restaurant, along with rooms for special events and meeting facilities. The Hudson in Philadelphia is expected to begin construction next year and reach completion by 2016.
DAS Architects Inc. of Philadelphia designed the structure, and Clemens Construction Co. will oversee the development. Morgans Hudson Brand, which will operate the hotel, also oversees a Hudson hotel in New York and will soon expand into Europe with a property in London.
