One Philadelphia Area Chapter Meetings Professionals International—Julie Green—is uniting with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to raise money and find a cure for blood cancers.
Green began participating after being asked by LLS to compete for Woman of the Year. And while the catalyst for Green was LLS’ interest in her, it’s also important on a personal level—her fiance was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma and LLS was a huge help for the couple. This November, he will have been in remission for four years.
To win, candidates must receive the most votes. Each dollar counts are one vote, and after 10 weeks, numbers are tallied and a winner is announced. Donations for the 2015 Woman of the Year award start in early March and run through June.
“When I was approached by LLS, I was humbled by their nomination” says Julie Green, director of sales, MeetingMatch and a PAMPI member. “Cancer has made an impact on so many, and I couldn’t think of a better organization to help.”
Another member, Monte Carlo, was a 2014 Man of the Year candidate nominee and continues to play a role as a sponsor and advisor with the Philadelphia chapter of LLS.
Green’s goal is to raise $50,000.
“Helping out the cancer community is a passion of mine,” says Green. “Working with PAMPI has given me the opportunity to share my passion with our members, sponsors and board members who share the same passions as I do.”
