Last week, on Tuesday, May 12, the Greater Philadelphia Life Sciences Congress, a division of the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau, celebrated Philadelphia’s life science and hospitality industries.
They did so by honoring Philadelphia Mayor Michael A. Nutter, with PHLLife’s The Ultimate Solution Award, which is given annually to an individual or organization who has raised Philadelphia’s profile in the life sciences convention and meetings destination. Mayor Nutter received the award for his advocacy of the meetings and convention industry and STEM education. The award is sponsored by Comcast and is presented during a reception in which David Cohen, senior executive vice president, and Marc Siry, vice president strategic development, spoke about Comcast’s digital health initiatives.
Philadelphia has made a name for itself in the medical, pharmaceutical and biotech meetings, conventions and business industry, hosting such events as the American Association for Cancer Research 2015 Annual Meeting and the upcoming 2015 BIO International Conference and Exhibition.
