Waldorf Astoria New York in New York City closed in 2017 for an extensive restoration and has now begun a phased reopening, accepting reservations for stays and events beginning in September. For planners, the property offers 43,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including the 9,990-square-foot Grand Ballroom and 3,675-square-foot Astor Salon, among eight private function rooms.
It also will feature Lex Yard, a new restaurant led by Chef Michael Anthony, with menus focused on seasonal, regionally sourced ingredients. Peacock Alley, a bar and lounge with historic ties to the property, will return with its cocktail program and brunch offerings.
Located in Midtown Manhattan and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Waldorf Astoria New York opened in 1931 and has a long history of hosting business and diplomatic events. The hotel is known for its art deco architecture and central location, and often is credited with the creation of American brunch staple eggs Benedict.
