Molos Restaurant Serves Up Ethnic Food and Breathtaking Scenery

By Nancy DePalma

Are we in Weehawken or is this heaven? It may be hard to tell at Molos Restaurant. Step inside this two-level restaurant (formerly occupied by Arthur’s Landing) and then feast your eyes on that view—it’s Manhattan served up on a silver platter.

This stylish and sophisticated restaurant rests right on the East River, giving the impression of being aboard a boat, but it’s those jaw-dropping city views that really close the deal. Inside, it’s sleek, stylish and sophisticated—think pure white and cool Mediterranean blue—with a warm and welcoming staff. The first floor is home to a large bar and elegant dining room, while upstairs features private event space ideal for parties for 20 to 160.

It just doesn’t get any better than dining on superbly fresh fish or classic rack of lamb and traditional Greek mezes (small plates) such as saganaki (pan-fried cheese), spanakopita (phyllo doughwrapped spinach pie) and oktopodaki skaras (sashimi-grade char-grilled octopus), while watching the gentle lapping of the river and the twinkling lights of the city. Molos, which is Greek for “the pier where fishermen gather their daily catch,” may be known for its tasty mezes, but there’s nothing diminutive about this knock-yoursocks- off space. Come for the impressive view, but stay for the delicious food.
