The Rebirth of The Smyth Tribeca

By M+E Staff

The Smyth Tribeca is welcoming guests again, this time as a newly independent hotel. The 100-room hotel first opened as a Thompson Hotel in 2009 and was rebranded an AKA property in 2018. Now, after being closed since March 2020, Smyth Tribeca will be run by Highgate, a real estate investment and hospitality management company.

“On behalf of the entire team at Smyth Tribeca, we are thrilled to open our doors amidst such a poignant time of revival for New York City,” says Evan Altman, Senior Vice President, Lifestyle Hotels, Highgate. “We look forward to once again being an integral part of the fabric that makes up this vibrant community.”

Smyth Tribeca has nearly 5,000 square feet of meeting space across five indoor and outdoor spaces. The largest, the 2,000-square-foot Penthouse Suite, which includes an outdoor terrace, accommodates 75 guests for a standing reception. Later this year, the food and beverage program will undergo a transformation including a new restaurant, lobby bar and private event space. smythtribeca.com
