People love to pick on New Jersey. From the perennial, “what exit?” jokes, to the ridiculous antics of those Real Housewives, to Bridgegate, New Jersey and its residents are often the punch lines on late night television. I was born and raised here and frankly, I’m tired of the Jersey jokes, so I was thrilled to see the NY Post’s roundup of top burger spots by day of the week. I like a good burger just like anyone else, but the best part of this list was Thursday’s selection of Maritime Parc. Yes, you read that correctly – a New York paper listed a New Jersey restaurant as having one of the “city’s” top burgers. We won’t split hairs over which side of the river Maritime Parc is on, but we’re proud.
In other rewarding NJ news, Open Table announced the winners of its 2014 ‘Top 100 Best Neighborhood Gem Restaurants” and the Garden State tied for third with Pennsylvania for the most restaurants (California took the top spot, followed by New York). Here’s who made the list:
Casa Bella Trattoria, Haddonfield
Crux Café, Audubon
El Sitio Steak Grille & Café, Collingswood
Grange, Westwood
L’Oceano Ristorante, Collingswood
Pascal and Sabine, Asbury Park
