When gathering in New York City, give your attendees a deeper view into its communities with a tour through Brooklyn-based Like A Local Tours. Book an immersive food tour, a social impact experience, graffiti lessons, or a cooking demonstration—all of which cater well to a range of group sizes, with the actual walking portion of the tour working best for groups of up to 16. “Keeping groups intimate allows for deeper engagement and a more personalized experience,” says Lauren Beebe, founder and CEO of Like A Local Tours. “Because we have seen such an explosion in companies taking our tours as a way to bring their teams together, we have a variety of team-building elements that we can add into the tour if desired.”

The tours originally began operating in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and have now expanded to other Brooklyn neighborhoods including Brooklyn Heights, Dumbo, Red Hook, and Bushwick. There are also tours available in Manhattan from Harlem, Hell’s Kitchen, and Fifth Avenue to Flatiron and Greenwich Village. “One of our big initiatives at the start of 2023 was incorporating social impact partners into our tours,” Beebe adds. “I am very proud to say every tour we offer financially supports an organization we have vetted or a business that is directly giving back to the community.” While supporting the local community of their host destination, attendees are also able to bond with each other during these tours because of the shared sense of discovery and learning. “Experiencing new tastes, uncovering historical tidbits, or simply walking and chatting helps team members relax and get to know one another on a personal level,” says Beebe.
