A Venue Rooted in Family

By Amanda Christensen

In the city of Rigby, situated in southeastern Idaho, LaBelle Lake offers a “cozy, Idaho log cabin, retreat-from-reality feel,” says Annika Frandsen, manager of the property.

Originally the family home of the Youngstroms, owned by Jim and Shannon Youngstrom, the family made the decision in 2018 to turn the home into an intimate host site for an array of events.

“If you can dream it, you can do it,” is the mantra for the property’s team, and the venue has seen an expanded lineup of event types hosted at the elegantly rustic lakeside property, including yoga retreats, weddings, corporate events, and family reunions. On-site, visitors will find six acres of stunning private land and a six-bedroom lodge. For outdoor events, LaBelle Lake can host up to 400, and up to 100 for indoor gatherings.

Event planners can personalize the logistics to fit the event needs, and an on-site venue consultant is also available.

“I feel like what makes this [place] so unique and stand out is [that] we really are passionate [about] creating an experience at the venue,” says Frandsen, emphasizing the ambiance of getting away from the day-to-day and being able to focus on the event at hand.

“It definitely has a special feeling and atmosphere,” notes Kira Martin, venue director of the property and daughter of Jim and Shannon Youngstrom.

This specialness is bolstered by the neighboring LaBelle Lake Ice Palace, also overseen by the venue’s team, open from mid-December to the end of February. “It’s got ice tunnels, fire shows every night, ice lights, horse-drawn sleigh rides, a giftshop, and these massive, beautiful ice structures,” says Martin. “You walk in, and you feel like you’re in a different world.”

This year, the company will embark on its first expansion of the ice palace with a location opening about a half hour west of Minneapolis in Delano, Minnesota.
