Got some thrill seekers in your group? Or perhaps you’re a planner yourself looking to get the adrenaline pumping and your attendees out of their comfort zone? Well, if you’re hosting a gathering at Alyeska Resort in Girdwood, Alaska, consider adding the two new Veilbreaker Skybridges to your itinerary.
Comprising 600 feet of bridges suspended at 2,500 feet above the valley floor between Alyeska Mountain, Mighty Mite peak, and Glacier Bowl peak, the skybridges are open during the Alaskan summer where “the midnight sun gives life to the breathtaking seasonal flora and fauna,” according to the resort’s website.
Participants will get views of Turnagain Arm, monumental glaciers, and the sprawling greenery of the Chugach boreal forest. Groups up to six at a time can do the guided climb, which take about two to three hours in total. The tour begins with a tram ride to the Mighty Mite summit, after which Alyeska’s Mountain Guides will take participants on a 20- to 30-minute hike to the first of the Veilbreaker Skybridges. The guides will perform safety training and provide harnesses and a helmet to begin the trek across the bridges connecting the three mountain peaks.
Upon return to the ground, Alyeska offers several group and meeting amenities to make your Alaskan event as memorable as possible. The 304-room resort offers several on-site meeting spaces, including the Columbia Ballroom, Kahiltna Court, the Portage Boardroom, the Summit Room, Columbia Patio, and more. Rejuvenate at Alyeska’s Nordic Spa featuring hydrotherapy, messages, hot and cold pools, and more.
