Located just south of Olympia in Grand Mound, the family-friendly Great Wolf Lodge Grand Mound completed a slew of renovations to its guest suites, water park, attractions, restaurants, and convention center in early July. Resort guests joined General Manager John Taffin and members of The Chehalis Tribe—the latter of which are joint owners of the property alongside The Great Wolf Lodge Corp. as it is situated within the boundaries of tribal land—for a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 9 in the refreshed lobby to celebrate the project’s completion.
“With the completion of our $40 million renovation, it’s safe to say the family experience at Great Wolf Lodge Grand Mound is better than ever,” says Taffin in a prepared statement. “We enhanced and elevated every aspect of the resort and gave families more experiences to enjoy. I think it’s safe to say that families who visited our resort before this renovation was completed are going to be amazed when they come back.”
For attendees looking to bring family along, they will appreciate an array of additions and upgrades to the lodge’s family-oriented elements. The refreshed lobby features modern updates and a new lobby show called Legend of Luna, which provides a nightly experience with visual, auditory, and physical elements like falling snow. Just off the lobby is the new buffet-style restaurant, Timbers Table & Kitchen, opened as a complement to the existing full-service restaurant, Fireside. New quick service-style eateries include Fatburger, Buffalo’s Express, Hot Dog On A Stick, and Preztelmaker. The lodge also completed refreshments to existing eateries including Freshwoods Market, Wood’s End Creamery, and Hungry As A Wolf.
Regarding its attractions, the lodge upgraded its Northern Lights Arcade with the addition of 1,000 square feet of space for more games and an expanded prize section. New retail outlets include the Buckhorn Exchange Gift Shop, Build-A-Bear, Candy Co., and Paddle Bay Outfitters. The Great Geyser Water Park features newly renovated restrooms and locker rooms alongside upgrades to its Cub Paw Pool and Whooping Hollow attractions.
All guest suites were revamped with new furniture, mattresses, and flooring, and a new room category debuted—Wolf Den Skylight Suites, which combine a traditional family suite with a themed suite, complete with a cave-inspired sleeping area with bunk beds. The lodge’s 20,000-square-foot conference space also received a bit of a facelift with new flooring, paint, and fixtures. It features breakout rooms, built-in audiovisual equipment, and customizable catering options for planners to work with.
