Surfsand Resort, located along Oregon’s picturesque coast in Cannon Beach, recently finished a $12 million comprehensive renovation project. The updates started last November and touched on all guest rooms, public areas, and the on-site restaurant; new amenities were also added as part of the undertaking. The resort has plans to upgrade its meeting spaces later this year.
“This year, the resort completed its comprehensive and holistic renovations, blending the breathtaking oceanfront views with thoughtfully designed guest rooms where modern comforts, timeless luxury, and unique amenities converge,” describes General Manager Phillip Wilson. “This is why the resort has many guests return year after year with their family and friends to experience unforgettable and authentic beach memories.”
The resort was first established in 1967 and features 95 guest rooms and 3,000 square feet of function space available in its Tide Pool Ballroom, where planners will find panoramic views of the iconic Haystack Rock, the Pacific Ocean, and the Oregon Coast Range; it can host up to 180 people. Or, bring attendees right up near the water by hosting your event outside. Outdoor event space options include the beach itself, a private beach area, and a rooftop deck.
Other on-site amenities include an indoor heated pool, a hot tub, sauna, fitness center, in-room food service, catering, and the hotel’s on-site dining establishment dubbed Wayfarer Restaurant & Lounge—which also received touchups and is the only restaurant in Cannon Beach open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. “The restaurant is an award-winning establishment with a heritage of fresh-from-scratch Northwest coastal cuisine,” says Wilson. “It features a modern interior and an updated outdoor patio for seasonal dining on the Oregon coast.”
Alongside the physical updates, the restaurant also recently welcomed its new Executive Chef Shawn Dickensheets, who brings more than three decades of culinary experience to the role. Visitors will also find an array of baked goods and desserts made in-house by Pastry Chef Andrea Kaul, who has been with Wayfarer for 11 years and has nearly 40 years of industry experience.
Between meetings, attendees can explore the quaint downtown area of Cannon Beach, home to charming shops and art galleries—or, get a peek at the most visited monolith in Oregon, Haystack Rock, right along the shore.
