The family-owned restaurant group, Duke’s Seafood, was first founded in 1977 and now has seven restaurant locations in the greater Puget Sound region. In late 2019, the company opened its first private event space on the ground floor of its South Lake Union location in Seattle and named it Dockside at Duke’s. Specializing in sustainable seafood and award-winning chowders, the attendees in your group with an affection for sea fare will appreciate the delicious options available.
“Dockside at Duke’s serves only 100% sustainable seafood and Pacific Northwest-focused cuisine with the ability to create custom menus for special events and weddings,” says Mary Brainard, sales and marketing director at Dockside at Duke’s. “Using strict standards for sourcing ingredients, all seafood is 100% sustainable, chicken and eggs are organic, all beef is local and grass fed, and produce is local and organic whenever possible. Every item is made with ingredients that are chemical free, nitrate free, BGH and BST free, cage free, hormone free, growth stimulant free, antibiotic free, and contains no high-fructose corn syrup or aspartame.”
Dockside at Duke’s features 3,500 square feet of indoor event space with floor-to-ceiling windows facing west to give visitors the best views of Lake Union. The event space can host groups of up to 350 attendees, and many of the other Duke’s restaurant locations also offer on-site private dining options. “The venue was designed as a clean, open space, making for a perfect blank canvas as our Dockside team works with guests and planners to create custom floor plans for any type of event,” Brainard adds. “Included with the venue is a gorgeous, 2,000-square-foot outdoor patio with well-maintained landscaping ideal for wedding ceremonies, picnics, or summer gatherings.”
All event cuisine at Dockside at Duke’s is handled by Chef Amanda Herrera, a seasoned industry professional that has been in the restaurant and catering business since 2006. “[She started] her illustrious career at the iconic Seattle restaurant, Canlis, before moving into her executive chef position at Herban Feast Catering for 15 years,” says Brainard. “She brought her talents to the Duke’s family at Dockside at Duke’s in 2021.”
The other Duke’s Seafood locations in the greater Seattle area include Green Lake, Bellevue, Ruston Way (Tacoma), Southcenter, Kent Station, and Alki Beach (West Seattle).
