The Davenport Hotel, formerly The Historic Davenport in Spokane, Washington, welcomed the transformation of its lobby area while celebrating its 110th anniversary this year. The upgrades were announced at the end of August and will be formally unveiled at a grand opening on Sept. 20, 2024. This is the largest investment in the property since 2002 and will feature a new Lobby Bar and Emporium.
“The freshly renovated lobby reflects our commitment to blending timeless elegance with contemporary comforts at The Davenport Hotel,” says Melissa Green, vice president and area managing director at Davenport Hotels (the management company of the hotel), in a prepared statement. “These immersive gathering spaces are designed for our guests and locals to come together. The new Lobby Bar and Emporium elevate the guest experience while continuing to preserve the heart of our historic hotel.”
The Lobby Bar was designed around the space’s original light posts and will feature seating for 50 people alongside a menu of Prohibition era-inspired cocktails and light bites like crab deviled eggs and beef sliders. The Emporium is The Davenport’s new retail and cafe space where visitors can watch demonstrations of making the hotel’s famous Davenport Peanut Brittle, handmade daily by the in-house confectionary team; in addition to perusing merchandise, local goods, and cafe items like cinnamon rolls, sandwiches, and drinks.
Beyond these two additions to the lobby, The Davenport Hotel features 284 guest rooms and nearly 33,000 square feet of function space. Its largest space is the Grand Pennington Ballroom at 6,253 square feet in size for up to 620 attendees. Other spaces include the 2,200-square-foot Elizabeth Room, the 4,380-square-foot Marie Antionette Ballroom, the 2,976-square-foot Hall of the Doges, and the 2,736-square-foot Early Bird Room, among others.
