When I visited Boise Centre for our recent cover story on Idaho’s capital city, I found the convention center, much like the city itself, spotless and both nimble and responsible in reacting to the ongoing pandemic. As I wrote then, the convention center was the first business in Idaho to earn the Global Biorisk Advisory Council® (GBAC) STAR Accreditation, which confirms a facility has met high standards in minimizing risks associated with infectious agents like COVID-19. Now, as part of its ongoing commitment to protecting the health of all exhibitors and attendees, Boise Centre has successfully completed the GBAC reaccreditation process.
To renew the accreditation, Boise Centre was required to demonstrate compliance with program’s 20 core elements, which range from standard operating procedures, and risk assessment to personal protective equipment, and emergency preparedness and response measures.
“Receiving the third-party validation of our cleaning, disinfection and infection prevention procedures gives our clients, guests and employees confidence that Boise Centre is taking the steps necessary to ensure safe and enjoyable events,” said Boise Centre’s Executive Director Pat Rice. “Renewing our GBAC STAR facility accreditation sets us apart, and in turn helps our customers reassure their guests their event meets the highest standards of cleanliness and safety.”
The ability to offer that reassurance turns out to be good for business. Mary-Michael Rodgers, Boise Centre’s communications manager, points out that last year the convention center welcomed 145,000 attendees to conventions, meetings and special events.
