Boise’s Convention Center Expansion Breaks Ground

By M+E Staff

On July 1, 2014, the Boise Centre broke ground on a $38 million new expansion that is slated to nearly double the size of the convention center. The expansion includes a new building on the east side of the Grove Plaza, which will feature a 15,000-square-foot ballroom, 14,000 square feet of flexible meeting space and 7,000 square feet of prefunction/lobby space. In addition, 8,000 square feet of additional meeting space will be added to the existing convention center, and a skywalk will connect the two buildings.

A second building—the Clearwater Building—is also being built adjacent to the new Boise Centre facility and linked via the prefunction/lobby space. The building will include the Boise State University computer science department, restaurant and retail spaces, as well as a multimodal transit center, connecting visiting convention delegates to the center from the Boise Airport.

Completion of the project is scheduled for the third quarter of 2016.
