The Green Meetings Industry Council announced its annual Sustainable Meetings Conference will be held in San Francisco on April 15-17, 2014. The event theme will be bridging the gapbetween conceptual sustainability and real-world practices at the industry scale.
The event will be held at the San Francisco Hilton Hotel and will aim to integrate sustainability into the entire life-cycle of event planning and execution. The event will offer opportunities to gain new tools, share best practices, network with peers and leaders in the industry and advance sustainability efforts. Topics to be addressed at the event include carbon emissions, waste, social responsibility, sourcing, storytelling and community relations.
“The GMIC Sustainable Meetings Conference continues to innovate not only on showcasing sustainable event practices, but on the overall integration of event design with a sustainability filter to guide the process,” said Paul Salinger, president-elect of GMIC Board of Directors and vice president of marketing at Oracle. “The Conference will deliver a unique experience that facilitates collaborative learning with ideas from different sectors and a learning space which takes advantage of the collective wisdom of our community while challenging participants to come up with game changing solutions to transform the event marketplace.”
