Finnish hotel developer Sunborn International Holding, in partnership with the Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre in British Columbia, is proposing a 250-room floating hotel to rest directly offshore from the Vancouver waterfront. Pending approval, Sunborn Vancouver will open in 2027 and connect to the Vancouver Convention Centre’s existing infrastructure while implementing renewable energy and low-carbon sources to reduce power consumption by nearly 70%. Opened earlier this year, the Cascada hotel in Oregon features Portland’s first underground thermal springs spa and hotel, with 100 guest rooms. Within the Thermal Springs & Spa is The Sanctuary, a subterranean silent space with a collection of pools at different temperatures, a sauna, and steam room; a year-round conservatory, kept at 82 degrees and adorned with rare plants from around the world; and a menu of spa services including massages, facials, and scrubs. While the hotel itself does not have on-site meeting or event space, it is less than 10 minutes from the Oregon Convention Center and provides a wellness-focused lodging option for attendees. cascada.me
