From building water rockets to competing in cold-water belly flop contests, groups are bonding amid the majestic Cascades.
Sitting on nearly 2,000 scenic acres in Central Oregon, with cozy cabins and sweeping panoramic views of the Cascade Range, Brasada Ranch is ideal for rustic-chic company retreats. Activities and amenities abound. With an 18-hole golf course, an equestrian center, a luxurious state-of-the-art Athletic Center, the Brasada Spa and outdoor options that include hiking, biking, fishing, swimming, white-water rafting and, of course, horseback riding, attendees never run out of things to do between gatherings at the Gold LEED-certified function space, which includes The Barn (capacity 140) and the Ranch Vista (capacity 180).
Now, as groups begin to meet and retreat again, the Ranch is introducing new and creative team-building experiences. Among the exciting offerings:
Canoe Regatta: This fun, fast-paced team building activity incorporates elements of planning, resourcefulness and plain old fun as teams race to outdo each other and build boats that are capable of transporting team members across a body of water. Teams are given a very specific set of tools and materials from which to construct their boats and must complete the construction of their boats within an allotted amount of time.
Water Rocket Wars: Physics, anyone? Teams compete to build and launch their very own high-powered water rockets into the sky! But first, the teams must scavenge around the property to locate all the essential components required to build the rocket. After building the rockets, teams can either compete to see whose rocket flies farthest/highest, or they can simply launch them at each other. And yes, we’re serious.
Fly casting challenge: This challenge requires teams to accurately cast, with a fly-
fishing rod, into different targets that are set up at varying distances from the casting station. It’s a fast paced, chaotic mess of tangled fishing lines (no hooks, by the way) and smiling faces.
Polar Plunge challenge: This challenge requires teams to do a belly flop into one of our outdoor pools, which will have been lowered to a predetermined temperature (most event planners ask for something in the 55-60°F range). Not to worry, though: the hot tubs are always heated and on hand for folks to get warmed back up.
