The Organization: PCs for People is headquartered in Minneapolis and recently opened a Denver office. The nonprofit organization refurbishes and recycles computer equipment from businesses, individuals and government agencies and provides them at little or no cost to families that could not afford them otherwise. PCs for People provides the same services for significantly reduced prices for eligible nonprofit organizations. pcsforpeople.org

The How: PCs for People offers electronic recycling for end-of-life IT assets at no cost to the donating individual or entity. The computers are wiped clean, repaired if necessary and donated, with the average family served having an annual household income of $16,000. If PCs for People can't reuse the donated equipment, the organization works with certified recyclers such as Techno Rescue and Blue Star Recyclers.

The Process: Picking up the equipment is free when there are more than 15 computers being donated at a time or set up a drop-off appointment by emailing denver@pcsforpeople.org

When planning a gathering, make sure to check a destination’s calendar of events for festivals, concerts and noteworthy exhibitions. Leslie Heins and Lisa Cook, owners and event architects of Denver-based Affair with Flair, demonstrated how this can be done with a social occasion, which easily could have been a corporate event in conjunction with the Denver Art Museum’s recent blockbuster “Dior: From Paris to the World” that wrapped up in March 2019.
