As senior vice president of operations at the Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau, German has served in various roles at the ACVB since 1991 and was recently named an honoree for the Women in Tourism category by the Dallas Business Journal.

Meet Ellen Hockley, Greater Good Events

It’s often said that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure, but in Ellen Hockley’s case, it was an idea that she found in the trash. Hockley, an event planner, knew that some food would go untouched at the end of each event, but one event’s waste particularly troubled her and spurred her into action. “I saw how much food—food that was never taken out of its packages—was thrown in the trash,” she explains.

Meet Ernest Wooden Jr., Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board

Image:

Los Angeles enjoyed a record year in tourism in 2015, welcoming 45.5 million visitors. That’s an increase of nearly 3 percent over 2014, and it makes 2015 the fifth consecutive year to shatter visitation records. Some credit for this boom goes to Ernest Wooden Jr., who has been the president and CEO of the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board since 2013. It’s under his very capable leadership that LA is marketed both nationally and internationally.
