Smith Teamaker Offers Group Samplings

As the Northwest chill begins to settle in for the season, planners in Portland, Oregon, may want to consider an alternative to wine or beer tasting as a post-meeting activity—tea tasting. You may just find that it’s your group’s, well, cup of tea.

“We sample teas in much the same way as one would experience a beer or wine flight,” says Sara Kaufman, tasting room manager for Smith Teamaker. “Our guests are encouraged to choose their own teas or they can allow our teamakers to lead the way for them.”

“I think one frequently overlooked item is shade. Whether that means sunshades, umbrellas or tents, you can’t underestimate the need for protection from the sun. People often get so excited for the spring/summer season in the Pacific Northwest that they can overlook how hot it gets in direct sunlight. Last year, Sister Cities International celebrated its 60th anniversary. The organization was founded as a result of President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s People-to-People program. Eisenhower believed that cultural exchanges, youth programs, sharing arts and culture, and exchanging business ideas and research and development projects could foster bonds between people of different communities. Here in the Northwest, each of our major cities has a number of sister cities. Seattle, for example, has 21, while Portland, Oregon, has nine (and one friendship city).

The maker movement is well represented in the Northwest and off ers both team-building opportunities and venue options for corporate and private groups.
