Sarasota County will see the addition of 1,112 new hotel rooms over the next two years. These new accommodations will largely fall within walking distance of downtown Sarasota and the dining, arts and scenery that it offers.
PRO EM Party & Event Rentals has recently acquired University Resource Supply, LLC and SoCal Tents & Events. This is the second acquisition in 45 days, having acquired Partytime-HDO Productions in May. These acquisitions follow PRO EM's recapitalization by Dos Rios Partners in October 2016. After the recapitalization, PRO EM decided it wanted to acquire entities from other markets like URS and Partytime-HDO Productions, in order to expand its menu of services, product inventory and to offsest seasonality.
President and CEO of Visit Austin, Tom Noonan, has been nominated to serve on the Board of Directors for both the American Society of Association Executives and Destinations International. The nominations are in addition to his current service on the U.S. Travel Association Board of Directors. Noonan has also served on the board for the Association Forum.
After celebrating its third anniversary of providing low cost services from London Gatwick, Norwegian Air, along with Visit Austin and Austin Bergstrom International Airport, revealed Austin as a new U.S. route from London Gatwick Airport. Norwegian Air will begin providing the eight-hour flight to Austin beginning March 27, 2018, with one way tickets at £239 and premium tickets at £579. The flight will take off from Barbara Jordan Terminal at 4:20 p.m., landing in London at 7:20 a.m.
Chicago's Taste of Randolph Street Festival saw the return of Visit Denver this June. The Colorado CVB sponsored the festival's West Stage, christening it the Denver Live on the Rocks Stage and decorating it with a full-size replica of the Red Rocks Amphitheatre and hosting a VIP client event.
Flavored Nation, a new live experience that highlights the most iconic food from each of all 50 states, will be hosted at St. Louis' Dome at America's Center from Oct. 27-29. GateHouse Media, along with Richard Gore, will work together to produce this event for food-lovers across the nation. After conducting extensive research to identify each state's most iconic food, 12,000 attendees will be able to taste the 50 dishes all at one event.
Meeting Professionals International has expanded the offerings in their Executive Education Series.
The series was developed in order to further education opportunities for senior-level and executive meeting professionals, and mid-level professionals aspiring to leadership. The new courses feature women in leadership and emergency preparedness. The Experiential Event program was also introduced and provides experience in sports, culinary, entertainment, and mega-event categories, with the option to qualify as designated Experiential Event Professionals.
