1. What are you looking forward to the most in your new role as catering manager for The Hotel Landing?
Michigan’s Team Lansing Foundation, along with the Greater Lansing Convention and Visitors Bureau,revealed Doug Klein, CTA, executive director of the Mason Area Chamber of Commerce, as the 2016 Greater Lansing Certified Tourism Ambassador of the Year. He received his award at the 2017 Greater Lansing CVB Annual Meeting held on Feb. 21 at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center in East Lansing; Klein is one of more than 500 CTAs in the area.
Mark your calendars: The Emerging Sales Professionals Association will host its sixth professional development symposium for sales professionals of publicly owned or operated convention and meeting venues on May 3, 2017, at the Meydenbauer Convention Center in Bellevue, Wash. The U.S. News & World Report has named Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa the No. 1 Best Hotel in California. They were also listed as one of the top ten hotels in the U.S.

The rankings rely on luxury hotel and resort industry awards as well as expert and guest reviews to determine the list.
Marriott and Disney resorts were in 16 of the top 25 spots in RedWeek.com’s report on the most popular timeshare rental resorts. Marriott-branded resorts won five of the top 10 spots and 11 of the top 25. Disney’s five listed resorts includes the new, Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary Resort.
Turnberry Associates, a Miami-based real estate developer, has revealed the plans for the new JW Marriott opening in downtown Nashville in 2018. The 33-story property will be shaped like an elliptical and will be a prominent part of Nashville’s skyline at 386 feet tall.
The hotel will be located within 2 miles of Nashville’s landmarks, including: the Music City Center, The Country Music Hall of Fame, Shermerhorn Symphony Center and The Ryman Auditorium.
Austin-based Chuy’s is opening their first Colorado location in Denver this June. The Tex-Mex joint will be located at 6595 W. 104th Ave. in Westminster. Chuy’s was founded in Austin back in 1982 and offers diners homemade Tex-Mex in a quirky environment.
Their most popular dishes include: stuffed chile rellenos, chicka-chicka boom-boom enchiladas and creamy jalapeno.
Pechanga Resort & Casino has completed their renovations of 65 of their suites. The AAA Four Diamond resort reinvented 63 of their one-bedroom and executive suites in the Temecula, Calif.-based hotel.
“We reconfigured the suite floor plan to create a more dynamic, interesting and comfortable use of the square footage,” says Ann Fleming, lead designer, Cleo Designs who leaded the redesign. “We needed to make technology capabilities within the suites totally effortless for guests. It now feels completely built-in, like they were there all along.”
