Frank Caiafa was recently named beverage director of The Stayton Room at The Lexington Hotel.

1. What are you looking forward to the most in your new role?

Getting the word out that there is a now a new center for proper cocktailing in Midtown East.

2. How do you think past experiences have prepared you for this role?

After nearly a dozen years at The Waldorf Astoria, I’ve gotten to know the neighborhood and its inhabitants pretty well. I like to think that they grew along with me and our beverage programs, becoming more adventurous all the time. House-made bitters are no longer a fear inducing ingredient.

3. How did you get into the industry?

I initially entered into it as a bartender, a way to pay the bills while pursuing other interests like everyone else at the time. Then, over time, it became my main focus. I really latched on to the creative aspect of food and beverage.

4. What are you hoping to achieve in your new role?

Elevating what a modern NYC hotel bar can be both in its offerings and services.

5. What do you enjoy most about the industry?

Most of the people in this industry who have put in the work and care, think a lot alike and get to the proper conclusion on issues pretty quickly. Experience=efficiency. That, and there is about one degree of separation from all of us.

Phillip Blane and Adela Toto were recently named general manager and director of sales and marketing for Kimpton Glover Park Hotel.

Gary Gill, telephone operator for The Broadmoor, earns the Heart of Hospitality award from The Above and Beyond Foundation.

1. How do you go above and beyond?

Our guests have a high expectation of service from The Broadmoor. Every team member strives to exceed that expectation; but, as I found out early on, the small things matter just as well.
