Herb Rackliff was recently named general manager of Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort & Spa.

1. What are you looking forward to the most in your new role?

The resort has been the focal point of Beaver Creek for almost 30 years. I am looking forward to all the terrific relationships with the local community that the role provides as well as engaging with so many guests who have been coming to the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort & Spa all these years.

2. How do you think past experiences have prepared you for this role?

The most obvious would be my almost 32 years with Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, encompassing 14 different properties. To add, I started coming to the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort & Spa soon after opening 30 years ago as a guest using my terrific associate benefits.

3. How did you get into the industry?

As a young child, my father used to take me to some of the great resorts on the East Coast. Unfortunately, we never stayed overnight, but I was always just completely enamored with the sheer beauty these properties provided.

4. What are you hoping to achieve in your new role?

While the resort has some of the best ski in and ski out anywhere in North America, it truly is a resort for all seasons. I am looking forward to elevating the resort as a meeting and incentive destination year-round.

5. What do you enjoy most about the industry?

I feel like I have one of the best jobs in life. I am doing today what I set a goal for in life at 19 years old. The fact that I get to engage with so many associates and guests alike every day provides for so many rewards.
