Ron Droegmyer was recently named general manager of The Essex Resort and Spa.

1. What are you looking forward to the most in your new role?

Taking the resort to the next level. This is a fantastic New England resort that specializes in personal experiences. With our focus on culinary, we have the opportunity to really ignite our guests' experiences.

2. How do you think past experiences have prepared you for this role?

I’ve had many exciting postings in my career. But I believe my experience at the Jerome in Aspen Co. and the Grand Lido resort in Jamaica are experiences I believe will set me up very well for this assignment.
 
3. How did you get into the industry?

Totally by accident. My father suggested I go to work for the Wichita Club, which turned out to be one of the high-end private clubs in the nation. I was there for five years and received great mentorship from the general manager there.

4. What are you hoping to achieve in your new role?

To build a fantastic team and enjoy this beautiful New England resort.
 
5. What do you enjoy most about the industry?

The fantastic people that I’ve met and have been able to work with over my career. It’s been an absolute joy. And I think the other thing that makes this job so wonderful is that I get to pay it forward with the fantastic people that I’ve met and have a privilege to work with at all my postings.
