San Antonio wholesale grocer Edward Franz Melcher opened Hotel Havana in 1914 as a guest house for his customers. Melcher infused the building with a tropical allure through the use of Mediterranean Revival architecture. The property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is located on the River Walk. In 2010, it came under the ownership of the hospitality organization Bunkhouse.
Hyatt Regency San Antonio Riverwalk
The Hyatt offers meeting planners headed to San Antonio three completely different experiences depending on which of the brand’s hotels you choose to stay at. This past fall, I was lucky enough to score a FAM trip that included stays at two of the three hotels, with a tour of the third.
Mokara Hotel & Spa, just steps from the San Antonio River Walk, was recently named “Best Hotel in Texas” by U.S. News & World Report. The property was specifically recognized by the outlet for its appeal to business and leisure travelers alike and for its “elegant décor and long list of amenities.”
