New ownership and an upcoming multi-million-dollar upgrade are going hand-in-hand for The Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch. Florida-based Driftwood Capital acquired the 16.2-acre property featuring 326 guest rooms and 80,000 square feet of meeting and event space in mid-February and announced that the renovation project will begin this summer. Upon completion in early 2023, the resort will join Curio Collection by Hilton

Renovation Highlights

The comprehensive refresh includes all guest rooms, common areas, amenity spaces, food and beverage outlets, function space and the spa, which will be expanded. The largest undertaking is converting The Stillman Building into a collection of two-story luxury villas, which will reduce the overall room count to 276. The renovation will be completed in phases, and the property will remain open throughout the process.

Fun Fact: Opened in 1976 as Scottsdale Conference Center, the property was the first conference resort in the country. 

New Ownership & Management

“The Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch holds a very special place in the legacy of Arizona hospitality, and we look forward to breathing new life and infusing a vibrant energy into this well-established Scottsdale property,” says Alan Klein, who was recently named area general manager for Driftwood Hospitality, which will manage The Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch. “We will soon be unveiling the resort’s rebranding along with further details about our plans to debut an upscale signature restaurant, a gourmet coffee lounge, an upgraded pool bar and restaurant, among many other high-end touchpoints.” 

Driftwood Capital also owns and manages Canopy by Hilton Tempe Downtown. Since its inception, the company has transacted more than $3 billion in hospitality assets, including new ground-up hotel development projects, cash-flowing hotels and hotel-backed loans.

The SaaS platform, Wix.com, has released a new builder for business owners, planners and venue operators to create customized seating maps. Users can also assign ticket pricing based on the location of individual seats, and any variation of seating can be mapped, including tables, rows of seats, areas with general seating (e.g., a standing-room-only area), reserved VIP sections, or a combination of options.
