Austin-based Second Bar + Kitchen will open a new location as the main restaurant for the new hotel, Archer Hotel Austin—both set to open Tuesday, Aug. 30.

The contemporary Western-styled restaurant will hold 144 indoor and outdoor seats, and 12 bar seats. The 171-room Archer Hotel’s pool patio will have cabana seating, a bar, a fireplace and a dining area that will seat up to 150 people. The menu will feature many of the classics from the original menu, and an expanded menu for breakfast, poolside, and terrace meals, with items like a Bloody Mary shrimp cocktail and salmon belly ceviche.

“SBK is honored to be able to serve our guests a vast array of unique food and beverage offerings,” says David Bull, the restaurant’s executive chef. “From 24-hour in room dining to poolside ceviche; 16,000 square feet of banquet and catering space – to specialty curated turn down treats – it’s a really exciting partnership with the Archer that allows us to create specific moments of Texas hospitality.”

The latest Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) Business Travel Recovery Poll revealed that business travel is surging forward and international travel is returning alongside the challenges of rising fuel prices, inflation, supply chain disruption, and the war in Ukraine. In addition, corporate travel policies are undergoing a revamp, and a large majority of employees indicate they are willing to travel for business.

The hospitality and meetings and events industries are known for their generosity. Even after a couple of tough years courtesy of the COVID-19 pandemic, helping others has remained a priority. Here are a few examples from around the country.
