Signature Drink - Kiwi Margarita

Image:

Every year, Richard Sandoval’s La Sandia, a modern Mexican restaurant in the open-air Santa Monica Place, hosts a six-week guacamole festival that highlights regional flavors. To come up with the ingredients, corporate executive chef Patrick Maxey of Richard Sandoval Restaurants and Manny Flores, Sandia’s director of operations, tour Mexico City, Toluca, Oaxaca and the Riviera Maya. They also select one ingredient to feature in a festival cocktail. "This year we chose kiwi, which is used in the Baja guacamole because it’s naturally sweet, bitter and sour all in one punch," Flores says.

Signature Drink - The RH

Image:

This is definitely not your grandfather’s library. The Library Bar, tucked inside the intimate Rittenhouse hotel, is a far cry from anything dusty, stodgy or old-world. Instead, this inviting space, with its handsome interiors, is the embodiment of modern, sleek style. While here, opt for The RH cocktail, the Library Bar’s signature drink. Like the space itself, this cocktail takes a classic and turns it on its head. It’s a new look of the whiskey sour, revisited in honor of Rye whisky’s birthplace.

Signature Drink - The Nordic Skipper

The Nordic Skipper

Want to try your hand at mixology? The Nordic Skipper comes compliments of Robyn Cleveland, bartender at The Ravens Club in Ann Arbor (and president of the Detroit chapter of the U.S. Bartenders Guild). Cleveland’s inspiration for this complex drink comes from Scandinavia; the cherry syrup reinterprets Glogg, a Swedish holiday punch that is similar to a mulled wine.
