On April 9, Delta Air Lines’ Delta Sky Club opened its expanded lounge at Miami International Airport (MIA), a haven for those looking to relax with a little Florida flair. With the addition of nearly 4,000 square feet and 100-plus seats—a capacity increase of more than 50%—the club now stands at just over 12,000 total square feet, ready to welcome around 300 guests.
“Miami is an important global transport hub, with increasing prominence in the Delta network,” says Claude Roussel, vice president of Delta Sky Clubs and lounge experience, in a prepared statement. “The expansion and renovation of the MIA club helps us support the growth in this market and elevates the lounge experience to one suited to the profile of this vibrant city.”
The expanded lounge features a design that draws upon the city’s characteristically bright colors and sunny beaches. A new mosaic is featured as well, paying homage to Miami’s art deco-style architecture and swaying palm trees; its cool color palette reflects turquoise waters and blue sky, with white and gold accents hinting at warm sunshine.
The club expansion also includes a new buffet and an additional beverage station for attendees to take advantage of during their travels. Single-seat dining tables, a communal table with a charging source in the center, and power outlets at almost every seat allow for an experience tailored specifically for the business traveler. Throughout the club, seating has been refurbished to match the design of the newly added space, and guests of the renovated lounge can enjoy a view of the H Concourse below.
The Miami expansion kicks off a year of growth for Delta lounges, with new Delta Sky Clubs coming to Charlotte, North Carolina, and Seattle, Washington, and highly anticipated Delta One Lounges opening in John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, Los Angeles International Airport in California, and Boston Logan International Airport in Massachusetts.
