On July 1, the Greensboro/Guilford County Tourism Development Authority of Greensboro, North Carolina, named Anthony Cordo as Visit Greensboro’s new president and CEO. The appointment comes after former leader Henri Fourrier stepped down from the role in June after 28 years. Cordo joins the convention and visitors bureau from Visit Lauderdale in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and holds both the Certified Destination Management Executive and the Certified Meeting Professional designations.

“I am incredibly excited to join the team in Greensboro,” says Cordo in a prepared statement. “Greensboro and Guilford County as a whole are fantastic places to call home, and I look forward to becoming part of a community that’s on the rise.” Cordo also expresses a strong commitment to fostering community partnerships and ensuring all voices are heard. “I pride myself in looking for mutually beneficial, pragmatic ways to build up partners,” he says. “The rising tide can lift all ships.” Earlier this year, Cordo was presented with the 2024 Community Partner Award at the Greater Hollywood Chamber of Commerce’s Royal Coronation Brunch & Business Excellence Awards in Florida.

Fourrier’s legacy was honored at a celebratory sendoff held June 10 at Greensboro’s Piedmont Hall, where speakers reflected on his impact on tourism and the Greensboro community. During the ceremony, Greensboro Mayor Nancy Vaughan awarded Fourrier with a key to the city, and additional tributes came from leaders of the Amateur Athletic Union of Lake Buena Vista, Florida; the Greensboro Sports Foundation; and the Greensboro/Guilford County Tourism Development Authority; among others.

As Cordo takes the reins from Fourrier, he says one of his first initiatives will be embarking on a “listening tour” to engage area stakeholders and community leaders. “My goal is to build on the great work already accomplished,” he says. “We’ll strengthen Greensboro’s brand, deepen collaborations, and drive awareness of what makes Greensboro so unique.” Cordo officially began his role on July 14.
