In mid-February, real-estate developer The Cordish Cos., based in Baltimore, celebrated the opening of Live Casino & Hotel Louisiana in Bossier City. “Just over a year ago, we broke ground on what is now a world-class entertainment destination—a true game changer for Bossier City,” says Jon Cordish, principal of The Cordish Cos., in a prepared statement. “We are excited to bring the Live brand to this region with this stunning property. With every detail thoughtfully designed to deliver a premier guest experience, Live Casino & Hotel Louisiana is set to become the cornerstone of excitement, hospitality, and economic growth for the region.”
The Cordish Cos. was joined by key stakeholders including Louisiana state Sen. Sam L. Jenkins, Jr.; state Rep. Steven Jackson; Bossier City Mayor Thomas Chandler; and many community and business leaders from around the region to celebrate the opening. Festivities involved a traditional Mardi Gras-style parade and second line followed by a spectacular fireworks display for thousands of enthusiastic guests.
Located along the Red River, Live Casino & Hotel Louisiana offers convenient access from U.S. Highway 71 and Interstate 20, just 20 miles from the Texas border and 40 miles from Arkansas. The $270-plus million development is projected to generate $35 million in gaming tax revenues for Bossier City and $168 million for the State of Louisiana within the first five years, as well as $34 million in annual salaries.
“Today is a monumental day for our city, community, and region,” says Bossier City Mayor Tommy Chandler. “We have eagerly awaited this moment, knowing that Live will bring an unparalleled level of entertainment excellence to Bossier City.”
The gaming-centered property contains over 47,000 square feet of gaming space, a 549-room upscale hotel, dining options ranging from its Sports & Social sports bar to its Venetian-inspired Ridotto Grand Cafe, live performances by high-profile musical acts, and a state-of-the-art event center.
Featuring a high-tech performance stage, elegant ballroom, and multiple breakout rooms, the event center can accommodate up to 1,000 guests for conferences, galas, and weddings. It also features an expansive pre-function space and an executive boardroom, as well as high-tech audiovisual systems throughout all rooms that can be synched to show the same content on the screens in each room if desired.
