It sure is 5’oclock somewhere according to the latest Moxy Charleston Downtown in South Carolina, which opened this month. Welcoming guests to its sixth-floor lobby, (which is also home to the hotel’s Bar Moxy) hotel goers are greeted with complimentary cocktails (or mocktails) and a round of ping-pong or shuffleboard upon arrival. “It is a property that is really built around the experience of the guest,” says Howard Letts, general manager of Moxy Charleston.

With 131 rooms and six queen bed bunk rooms, it is the perfect place to host groups of all kinds. The hotel also features a variety of amenities like Starbucks coffee, valet services, a rooftop bar, fitness center, live entertainment, and unforgettable views of the Charleston Harbor. Meeting spaces include the War Rooms which are two rooms that have a combined 750 square feet of space with the capacity for 35 people in each. For an al fresco gathering, the rooftop terrace overlooks the Ravenel Bridge and is available for group rentals of up to 45.

“The Moxy Hotel is really built around those looking for a truly unique experience,” he says. “It is a place where guests can relax, unwind, and enjoy themselves.”

In addition to its hip approach to lifestyle travel, the hotel’s location in Charleston’s Historic District makes it a truly local destination for visitors. With its cobblestone streets, preserved homes, and wonderful food and beverage options, Letts says that the hotel is in a spot that makes it easy for guests to explore what the region has to offer—whether it’s by bike or on foot.
