Margaritaville, headquartered in Orlando, Florida, partnered with Major League Pickleball (MLP) to become the league sponsor. The new collaboration will rebrand the athletic organization to MLP by Margaritaville, and the travel and hospitality company will continue to sponsor the USA Pickleball National Championships.
“Margaritaville plays a large part in the branding and strategy of on-site fan activations and immersive entertainment, bringing more fun and a Margaritaville state of mind to the MLP community at tournaments nationwide,” says Tamara Baldanza-Dekker, chief marketing officer for Margaritaville.
Baldanza-Dekker adds that the sport is about fun and community—two things that go hand in hand with the Margaritaville brand. “Additionally, our hospitality destinations appeal to all ages and demographics—much like pickleball.”
As a sport that is rapidly growing in popularity, the brand has dedicated space for pickleball courts at its Texas and Dominican Republic resorts, as well as the Latitude Margaritaville communities and Camp Margaritaville RV Resorts. Margaritaville hopes to continue to increase the presence of pickleball facilities at its other brand resorts and communities.
“Margaritaville has been synonymous with pickleball and a driving force behind the growth of the sport in the hospitality space for five-plus years,” Baldanza-Dekker says. “It has been incredible that so many celebrities, companies, and brands are joining the movement and helping grow the love and exposure of the sport for fans, players, and competitors alike. It’s a great sport and exciting to see more attention on something approachable that brings people together.”
