Planners seeking updated meeting space and attractions throughout North Carolina will find no shortage of exciting projects underway. Highlights in the state include the new Garden Gateway at Sarah P. Duke Gardens in Durham, set to be completed in spring. The addition will feature a new welcome center with a cafe, upgraded gallery space, an outdoor event plaza, a more accessible garden entrance, and expanded green spaces for gatherings, among other changes. Another spot for learning, the North Carolina Museum of History in Raleigh is currently closed and undergoing a transformative restoration that will add 40,000 square feet to the museum, relocate its main entrance and supply classrooms, and add community spaces and a new restaurant. The target for completion and reopening is 2028.
On the hotel scene, the seven-story Pagemore Hotel at Fenton is slated to open in fall 2027 in Cary within the stylish shopping and entertainment development of Fenton. The 186-room hotel will come complete with an eastern Mediterranean restaurant and more than 6,000 square feet of event space, all part of Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio. In late 2026, a 17-story 1924 office building in the heart of Uptown Charlotte will find new life as The Beckworth Hotel, a 245-room luxury property with a 35,000-square-foot ballroom and rooftop bar with views of Romare Bearden Park. The Oberlin Raleigh, opening in April, will include a high-end restaurant and cocktail bar with city views, large courtyard, and meeting and event space, all adjacent to the popular Village District shopping center.
