Transportation: Home to two international airports—Orlando International Airport and Orlando Sanford International Airport—the region has direct flights from more than 175 destinations. If you’re traveling in from close by, Sturley recommends the Brightline high-speed rail, which connects Orlando to South Florida, or the SunRail commuter rail line, which stops at 17 stations throughout Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Volusia counties.
Venues: “The greater Orlando region is home to top-tier venues that are suited for youth tournaments across all levels of play,” says Sturley. The Boombah Sports Complex in Seminole County, for instance, boasts 15 fields for baseball, softball, and multisport events. The Big House in Lake County is ideal for basketball and volleyball, while sports planners appreciate the Orange County Convention Center for its flexible indoor space.
Hotels & Attractions: According to Sturley, hospitality is woven into the fabric of the greater Orlando region. In fact, visitors have access to more than 140,000 hotel rooms across the area’s four distinct counties—ensuring convenience and comfort for the entire family. And of course, he adds, athletes and their families can enjoy iconic attractions like Walt Disney World, SeaWorld, and Universal Orlando during their time off the field.
