Opened in 2020, AREA15, an immersive art and entertainment district in Las Vegas, is already growing in a big way. The addition of 20 acres will extend beyond AREA15’s main complex that already features Meow Wolf’s Omega Mart, Illuminarium, and Lost Spirits Distillery.
Universal Parks & Resorts will anchor AREA15’s expansion with a new, year-round horror entertainment option inspired by its popular Halloween Horror Nights, an annual Halloween-themed event at Universal theme parks in Florida, California, Japan, and Singapore. Universal will occupy more than 110,000 square feet in a standalone building on the southern end of AREA15, located just minutes from the Las Vegas Strip.
The project also includes over 450,000 square feet of retail, office, and residential space and more than 85,000 square feet dedicated to pop-ups and outdoor experiences, including a salvaged Boeing 747 aircraft that is being repurposed as an event space.
“Consumers continue to gravitate toward artful new forms of entertainment providing immersive experiences, authentic connections, and real emotions,” says AREA15 CEO Winston Fisher. “The demand for more AREA15 experiences is high, and we are ready to dive into this substantial expansion and find more partnerships that will have a lasting impact on the AREA15 district and the city of Las Vegas.”
Since opening, AREA15 has welcomed nearly 4 million visitors, hosted over 200 live events and performances, and earned a 2022 Urban Land Institute Nevada Placemaking Award for Excellence in the private sector category.
Dueling Axes, Five Iron Golf, The Beast by Todd English, Wink World: Portals Into the Infinite, Museum Fiasco, Virtualis VR, and Emporium Arcade Bar are among the other current tenants. There also is a constantly revolving roster of concerts, events, interactive art exhibitions, nightlife, and more for visitors of all ages.
