The Reno-Sparks Convention & Visitors Authority promoted Jose Martinez to vice president of venue operations for the organization.
“Jose has vast experience and institutional knowledge of venue management best practices and operations at every level,” says Reno-Sparks Convention & Visitors Bureau President and CEO Mike Larragueta, in a prepared statement. “He has a clear vision of how to effectively motivate his team, manage resources, and enhance the event experience for our customers and their attendees. I’m thrilled that Jose has chosen to continue his long, successful career with the Reno-Sparks Convention & Visitors Bureau.”
Reporting to Larragueta, Martinez is responsible for managing the operations of the organization’s four major event venues: the Reno-Sparks Convention Center, Reno Events Center, National Bowling Stadium, and Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center. Martinez is responsible for capital expenditures, resource management, staffing, and operational budgets at all four venues. Martinez also oversees the management agreement with Aramark, which was awarded the food services contract in 2022.
“I’m grateful to continue my career with Reno-Sparks Convention & Visitors Bureau in this new role,” says Martinez. “I look forward to leading our event venues teams to ensure an elevated value and experience to our clients, while driving revenue performance and growth for the region.”
Most recently the executive director of facility operations, Martinez has served the Reno-Tahoe community for more than 30 years, focusing on customer service, operations, and project management at Reno Convention & Visitors Bureau-managed event and entertainment venues.
