The City of Sedona, Arizona, is the official destination management organization (DMO) for the city as of last July. The city took over the role after the Sedona Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau decided not to renew its contract with the city. The City of Sedona will now work with meeting planners to book events in and near the city.
The city has a lot to offer meeting planners, according to Sedona’s Special Initiatives Coordinator Kegn Moorcroft. “The number of amenities here, specifically for smaller groups, [is] just amazing,” Moorcroft explains. “The attractions, the restaurants, the spas, the group activities—there’s a lot to see and do here. … You can get a 360-degree view from almost wherever you’re standing, and that’s not the case with any other destination that’s equally as beautiful.”
Venues in or near Sedona have capacity for up to 160 attendees, says Moorcroft. She notes rates are better and crowds are smaller during the summer and winter offseasons.
