Don’t Miss the XTC Energy Parade of Lights in Fort Worth!

By M+E Staff

With so much to see and do, it’s always a good time to visit Fort Worth, and November is no exception. Come do some Christmas shopping, dine at one of the 40-plus downtown restaurants and stay for the Melodies of Christmas, featuring more than 100 illuminated entries in the 34th annual XTO Energy Parade of Lights on Nov. 20, 2016.

The festivities begin with live entertainment and activities at 2 p.m. in the beautifully decorated Sundance Square. Get to the parade route early and find a good spot or purchase reserved seating in advance online starting at $8.50. At 5:30 p.m. Fort Worth’s Cowboy Santas will be collecting donations of new, unwrapped toys from attendees along the parade route with the parade following at 6 p.m.

Produced by the nonprofit Downtown Fort Worth Initiatives, Inc., the parade was first staged in 1983 with 25 entries and was designed to bring residents and visitors together in the central business district for fun and relaxation. Today the parade features more than half-a-million LED lights on antique cars, marching bands, equestrian teams, carriages, groups of carolers and floats.

The XTO Energy Parade of Lights 1.58-mile parade route starts at the intersection of Belknap and Throckmorton Streets and proceeds east on Belknap turning onto Commerce and continuing to 9th St. At 9th St., the parade turns west, working past the Fort Worth Convention Center to Houston St., and then north, concluding at Weatherford Street.

Free parking for the event will be available at Farrington Field and shuttle service will be available beginning at 2 p.m. for a fee of $3 per adult or $5 for two people. The last shuttle bus will depart for Farrington Field at 10 p.m.
